Teal Girls Bedroom
It only seems like yesterday that I was showing off my daughter's NURSERY REVEAL in our last house…it was pink, gorgeous, and happy…but when we moved, I decided that while I loved that room, maybe it didn't fit my little gal's personality as much as I'd hoped. So I went in a completely different direction and instead, we went with this fun Teal and Lilac Girl's Bedroom makeover instead! And I could not be more thrilled.
When we moved into this house, my daughter's new room was AWFUL. The previous owners didn't even have real carpet in the room. The subfloor shown through and there was no carpet in the closet. It was dark and gloomy and I felt horrible moving my baby girl into such a bad room. So we immediately started fixing that room up so that she had something suitable to stay in. We painted the room a great lilac color called Lilac and Frost, using the HGTV Home Paint by Sherwin Williams at Lowe's (more about my color palette for the house HERE).
Here's what her room looks like today…all the detail on where I got stuff at the bottom of the post.
Last month we ordered new bedroom furniture for our daughter from Bedrooms First. My husband thought I was crazy to buy new furniture, but I tell you what…bright white furniture makes ALL the difference for the overall look of a little girl's room. It was money well spent in my opinion!
I paired the furniture with bedding I got for a great price at Target (all sheets, pillows, and comforters are from Target).
When we first moved in, I decided I didn't want a "theme" for her room, I just wanted tons of patterns…so the striped curtains from Pottery Barn Teen started out my patterns, followed with the bedding, then the polka dot/flower accent wall with vinyl designs from Walls Need Love. My friend, Kiki, at Kiki and Co. designed the pretty wall flowers for me!
I found that pretty wall art at Hobby Lobby for a steal–like $5.99 on sale. It was PERFECT for the space and added a little pop of color and something fun to look at. It just makes me happy!
On the other side of the window, I made an old window into a shelf. I debuted that on my blog a few months ago. Link to the tutorial at the bottom of this post. I also kept a small side table we used in her old room for some added whimsy in the room.
Note: on my to-do list is to paint those closet doors a light teal and paint the dark wood work in her room white. One thing at a time though! 😉
I got this gorgeous handmade globe from Hello Sunshine Shoppe…the globe says "And I think to my myself, what a wonderful world". It seemed fitting and I just love the design!
That's the whole room. I'm just SMITTEN with how it turned out. It's so girly and fun and just makes me happy to go in there.
I can't wait to show you guys more of the updates I've been doing around my house! Now that summer is over, we have a lot of updating plans in the works, so stay tuned!
So here's some fun things about the room:
The bedding is from Target and is a STEAL! Find it HERE.
The sheets and pillows are also all from Target #targetdoesitagain (Sheets)
I made the Window Shelf wall hanging (tutorial HERE).
The teal striped curtains are black out curtains from Pottery Barn Teen (not available in teal anymore).
The furniture is new furniture from Bedrooms First.
The gorgeous globe is from Hello Sunshine Shoppe, as well as the "Elise Claire" name sign above the window.
The white polka dots and flowers are from Walls Need Love and the flower design is from Kiki and Co.
The details on the cloud in the corner of the room can be found on my Whimsical Nursery Post HERE.
